  1. I'd say more than likely but not sure.. check with the dmv there and see what they say if your concerned.. Its all about bulking money out of the working mans pocket didn't you know..*S*

  2. In almost all states, once you have your license taken away you do not get it back until you redo all parts of the examination.  I would have to say that yes you will have to take the road test again because it is part of the license and once it is taken away you have to redo the whole test.  I recommend you just get the medical card renewed.  For more accurate information you can just call your DMV.

  3. You WILL NOT have to retest if only your medical card expires.

However, you can not drive a commercial vehicle without a valid medical card (49CFR 391.41). You could potentially be placed out of service by a roadside inspector when it is inconvenient - like in another town, without a co-driver.

Just curious, why not just get your medical exam certificate renewed within 2 years? If there IS no problem, there should BE no problem getting your MEC.

However, if you have a condition which might disqualify you, then you might want to consider a different career because the trucking industry is one of the most highly regulated industries in the US. Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and DOT are now cracking down on medical examinations and drivers which are borderline medical problems. This in light of several crashes recently, ESPECIALLY MOTOR COACH AND OTHER PASSENGER TRANSPORTATION COMPANIES.

Congrats on your CDL ! be careful out there! some of those four wheelers can be a little crazy at times - most times.

BTW when you "change jobs" to drive - say a school bus, the new company will qualify you with their own road test anyway, so you will have to "retest" in the vehicle which you are expected to drive.
