Do i have to worry for our future if my boyfriend has only one kindney left?

do i have to worry and cry whenever the scene that he dies pops into my mind?.. what advices could you give me..

When you think of all the bad things can happen to us (the old saying, "You may get hit by a bus tomorrow") it's actually a minor concern.

The best thing you can do is enjoy your time together and treat each day as your last.  It will lead to fulfilling happiness.

Well, assuming he lost one since he was born (it's not uncommon for people to be born with only one kidney, or for one kidney to never fully develop) it really depends on why he lost it.

If he lost it due to a cancer or kidney disease, then there is a chance that he may have further problems. While this is unfortunate, there's a better chance than not that he's going to have a long life and your relationship won't be effected in the slightest.

If he lost it due to an injury, assuming he's 'recovered' from the injury, there's very little chance of it shortening or affecting his life at all. The remaining kidney is more than adequate to run his urinary system and will not hold him back from anything.

But either way, if I were a gambling man, I'd be putting $100 on "it won't effect your lives and relationships" :- )

My sympathies are with you but as he is only your boyfriend at present have you discussed your long term plans?  This time next year you could be split up and seeing other people.  Many people live long lives with just one kidney and who's to say what might happen over the coming years.

We can all live on one kidney.  Rather than be upset that he has only one, be thankful for it.

well you didnt say why he only has one kidney left, was it due to disease??? if so, yes you should worry....if it was due to some other reason, i would say dont worry at all...he will live a long happy life....

Your worry comes from your fear of him dying and you can't live in fear all the time. If you really think about it anyone including yourself can die before him, he might live longer than anybody we just don't know when or why is going to happen, so just live everyday as if it is the last day because no one knows what may happen tomorrow.
