  1. when its really  cold you should or when i sick but other then that you should because he can be over heatedand die unless he is use to that kind of heat

  2. think so

  3. probably only if i gets really cold at night

  4. Heat is a very vital part in all reptile care. If you have a heat pad you can turn you light off at night, i suggest if you don't to buy a night bulb. What kliqk said is completely wrong, if your temp in your viv fluctuates your snake will most def inherit some sort of respiratory condition and more then likely will die. Just make sure you keep a steady day time heat and night time heat, a drop of a few degrees at night is ok but don't just cut its heat supply completely.

  5. if the snake is nocturnal (active at night) then what u can do is not keep the light on too long during the day (couple hours depending on how cold it is) then u can keep a blue or black light on all night. if ur Snake is a ground dweller then u could use a heat pad, but if they spend time on the trees then ur ganna need a heat lamp.

  6. Does the sun stay up 24 hours a day? No! They need a day/night cycle or they will become stressed. If it is cold at night, buy a heat pad.

  7. Being cold-blooded (ectothermic), the surrounding temperature plays a large role in a snake's digestion. 30 degrees Celsius is the ideal temperature for snakes to digest their food... I would say yes. You don't want the cold to lower it's blood pressure and die/..

  8. No, of course not. Snakes are very durable and won't die easily from a little bit of cold. If you're unsure of this, you should get a 75 watt infrared basking light. You can get them from any major pet store. I just leave mine off at night, though. It's OK, he won't die

  9. if it is cold then yes, he could die without it...or get sick

  10. do you use a u v lite to,,if you dont you should, and no you dont keep it on all the time, the lite is like sun light, they need it  for musle growth and to help shead, and to get and stay health,i have a lizard.they basic the same..

  11. You will need a source of daytime lighting which can be provided by using a reptile daytime spot light. This will also provide a source of heat and a basking spot. You may also wish to provide a nighttime bulb or ceramic heater to maintain the temperature at night without the bright light which would disturb the snake at night. Do not use a white light at night! If using light bulbs for heat, be sure that they are placed in such a way that the snake cannot contact any hot surfaces. You can also provide heat through under tank heaters and specialty reptile heating platforms. Be sure to use a thermoregulator to allow for better control over the temperature. The heated area does need to be large enough for the entire snake to bask. Depending on the requirements of your snake a combination of heat sources may be needed.

  12. They usually have daytime and nighttime lights....reptiles need a lamp on all the time.  You should put the lamp on one side of the tank rather than in the middle so the snake has a cool and warm area to go to.  Yes, you need a lamp on all night even if it is a daytime one, but you should by a night light for him/her.  You can ask an associate at a reptile store or possibly even at a Petsmart and they will know what lights your snake needs.

  13. do you have a heat mat? if so there is no need for you to have the heat lamp on aswell
