  1. I assume you live in one of those crazy dictator countries.....like with a king, master, or queen...or whatever....

    You don't need one if you don't have a TV receptacle.

    How can you NOT have a TV.....that's just crazy....its the 21st century for god's sake....man is England (i assume) backwards...

  2. Your question is hard to understand.

    You dont need a TV license just "to get broadband"

    If you watch TV services like BBC iplayer, CH4 on demand, CH5 on demand etc then YES, you will need a license.

    In short, if you watch  TV programmes on any format in the UK whether it be via the internet, aerial, satellite etc then you must have a license.

  3. >>How can you NOT have a TV.....that's just crazy....its the 21st century for god's sake....man is England (i assume) backwards...<<

    I seem to recall that TV was invented in England (by a Scotsman called John Logie Baird) as it happens.

    England is that little place off the north coast of Europe which gave the world many great inventions. It can't be credited with inventing McDonald's, thank god.

    Anyway, in answer to the question - yes, in the UK you need a licence ot view any public service broadcast TV however it is accessed. That's just the way it is.

    And I know several people who choose not to have TVs. They're all British. Bless 'em.

    PS: I'm rather pleased with myself. I can use capital letters and proper punctuation when I type. Amazing really!

  4. No,.. Unless you aim to watch TV on your computer, via the internet or by way of a TV card installed in it.

    You will need a TV licence if you intend to watch any TV channels in the UK regardless of their origins, or their method of delivery, ie 'off-air' (including freeview), cable, satellite or internet.

    Alex N,  Did you read my answer? Or just fire off without going through it first?

    I did, and still do say;

    "You will need a TV licence if you intend to watch any TV channels in the UK regardless of their origins, or their method of delivery, ie 'off-air' (including freeview), cable, satellite or internet".
