  1. No, but do not rent a car from a website that says"Desigen and Hosted by PIMSa" we were ripped off by them. How can Pastor International Marketing, S.A. de C.V (PIMSA) stay in business???

They are website host and designers/copiers, not a Travel Agency. My families vacation was ruined by this bunch and I really don't think I will ever recommend them to anyone, ever. As a matter of fact, I will tell everyone that I know not to Set up a Wedding, Rent a Room, Car, Tour, Airport Transfer or anything from these Fakes ever. They took my familes vacation money and destroyed our vacation in Cancun. We didn't get anything promised and what we got was telephone hang-ups, and lies. If they were in Canada we would run them out of the country. The owner was trying to get fresh with my wife on the phone when she made the reservations.

  2. Your regular driv license will do.

I always rent a car in Cancun with no problem.  I normally rent it for about 7-8 days.  With full insurance coverage everything comes out to about $450 or so.  So worth it!!!!!!!!!!  It is also very safe to drive in Cancun.  There is really just 1 road in and 1 road out, it is great!  Have a blast!!!!!!!

  3. HI,

NOPE!!! All you have to do is rent your car and drive on. However, before you drive off the rental lot make sure you inspect the car all four sides and the roof and listen to the engine. Some of these guys are out for all the bucks they can get off a tourist.

Here is how the Mexican Drivers License works, and once you see how they drive you will understand. To get a Mexican Drivers License all you do is apply, Pay your money and the License is yours. There is no written driving test and if that's not all there is no driver education or behind the wheel drivers test. So you will have to drive just like the locale's. I will guarantee you will have a smile on your face with your first traffic experience.

  4. Your normal license will be all that you need. I strongly advise that you take all the available insurance no matter what is covered by your credit card. I have owned a rental car agency with offices in Cancun for 17 years and can assure you that this is the best advice you will get. The other information is to shop the best rate, there are many agencies in Cancun and the pricing can be very competitive. Remember to ALWAYS see the car first before you let then run your credit card or you sign any rental agreement. Enjoy the trip, if I can give you any other info on the area just write my mail address.

  5. So long as you have a Valid drivers license from your own Country you shouldn't have any problems. I am renting a car at the moment on my British License, and haven't had any dramas.

Always make sure that you book your Car with a well known operator though, AVIS, National, something like that, as there are a lot of smaller companies setting up and some of their cars are nothing but wrecks.

  6. No ... those things mean nothing

Just have a valid one from somewhere

  7. You don't need the internat'l  license which doesn't mean much.  A regular license will do.  Rent from a major car rental company and get the insurance.  Heard horror stories of people renting a cheaper vehical from small Mexico rental, bot the insurance and when needed, they denied it, etc. etc.

The Mexican Tourism Board has told us travel agents to tell our clients DO NOT RENT A MOPED in Cancun or Cozumel.

Mainly because of the insurance problems.
