Do i need a NYC ID at the age of 13?

im 13 and im getting a job by sept.

Do i need a ID?

Why don't you think about getting a passport? Costs money. But in recent years it has taken several weeks/months to actually get a passport. People who have wanted to travel outside the US have not been able to get their passport in time to make their trip.

Passports cost money, you apply for them through a US postoffice, but if you are asked to provide a ID, and you pull out a passport, it impresses people.

It's always good to have some kind of an ID on you at all times (except when home) in case of emergency. You could be on the street passed out. Have to know who you are especially at your age to get permission to treat you.

You should have a student ID.  It's a good thing to have, anyway.  Companies require that you submit an ID when applying for a job.

You're too young to be on anyone's payroll.  If you're getting paid "under the table", then you do not need an ID.
