If you have FIOS, right now, you can connect the coax directly to the tv and get 19 channels or so.

When everything switches to digital, all you need is a set top box - which you likely already have if you have FIOS. You don't need a new TV or different set top box.

Yes, you do need a stb (set top box) for your analog TV.  You said that you have FIOS, which means you probably already have a stb, if so you are all set.  But if you are asking about an additional TV you have in the home w/o a stb there are a couple of ways you can get the new digital signal.  The first is Verizon FIOS offers a digital converter and right now they are running a special to get it for free just call them and ask.  If you don't want to go that route, you can go to DTV.gov, from there you can put in your name an address for a $40 coupon, to go to a retail store (wal-mart, sears, kmart etc) and purchase a digital converter.  If you go that route the only programming you will get is what you can get with an antenna, and without FIOS now, also know as over the air channels.
