  1. There is a resource that can help you with any questions you may have, that I have found very helpful. It is called SCORE. It is a group of retired executives that help people with info for starting a small business. Just google Score and look for them in your area. I went to a seminar and fornd it very informative. They usually hold the workshops at local libraries.

Its a great resource! go to www.score.org

  2. only if you r going to ask for money from a bank.

  3. Unless you are going to apply for a bank loan or inviting investors to your business, you don't need to have a formal written business plan

But it is very helpful to go through the process of business planning -- e.g. thinking through your services, identifying target market, finding ways to reach them, doing financial estimates -- even if you don't write it.

  4. Most definitely...if you plan on being in this business for a while and it becoming your primary source of income!  And make sure you update it every year or so.  You will need that business plan should you decide you need funding to expand or market your business or to purchase/upgrade equipment.

If you need help developing one, see your local SCORE chapter (www.score.org).  They will be able to help you write one or edit one.

  5. I have owned and operated my own companies for 35 years and to this day have never had a business plan. This is c**p the professors and teachers in our collegs are teaching. They are a waste of your time and only prolong your success. Just go out and "DO IT". I have been financed for expansion loans of over $500,000 and I have never been asked for a plan by any bank. What they really want to see is your profit and loss statements.
