  1. where do you live?

If you are not from canada - yes.

  2. Actually it is a newer law you do you used to be able to use your birth certificate but now you need an actually passport!

  3. For US Citizens:

    - By AIR, you will be required to have a passport to board the international flight to Canada (WHTI requirement as of SEP-2007)

    - By LAND or SEA, you are still allowed to use a birth certificate, government issued ID such as driver's license, or any other combination that shows your nationality and (ideally) has a photo ID. You will be required to have a passport starting in June 2009 or later, depending on if they postpone the deadline again.

    For other INTERNATIONAL visitors:

    - A passport will be required at Canada Customs.

  4. Are you an American citizen? How are you traveling?  Passports are required to FLY to and from Canada from the U.S. Passports are not required to DRIVE to and from Canada from the U.S.  You do need your birth certificates, and those over 18 need a photo I.D.  See site below to read the law for yourself.

  5. Yes, now that immigration laws are getting stricter, it is important that any time you/family travel out of the country, you need a passport.  It stinks, but even Canada is cracking down.  Besides, it  is better to be safe than sorry these days.
