  1. You will need it.

  2. The best place to look for this kind of information is at the US Embassy in Ottawa website:

    http://www.amcits.com/canadians.asp

For now, you need to show a valid government identification such a driver license and proof of Canadian citizenship such as a birth certificate or a citizenship certificate given to naturalized immigrants in Canada.  Or you can show your Canadian Passport instead.

For travel by air to USA, you have to show your passport.

But starting on 1 June 2009, you will have to show your Canadian passport for any kind of travel to USA, including by air, land, and sea.

  3. If you are a Canadian citizen, you don't need a passport when traveling by land/sea,until June 2009. You need a government issued photo ID such as a driver's license and birth certificate (you need your citizenship card if you are a naturalized Canadian) You are required a valid passport when traveling by air.Hope this helps :)
