Do i need a passport to go to TJ?

i havent been to mexico in a while but i recently asked my nephew if he wanted to drive down to Tj for the weekend and he said we need a passport is this true?

  1. If you are driving into Mexico, you do not need a passport to get back into the states - but that changes in December 2008. In December 2008 you will have to have a passport to re-enter the U.S. no matter how you get into Mexico. Currently you do need a passport if you are flying from Mexico into the U.S.


  2. Two wrong answers.   You currently need a photo I.D. and a proof of citizenship...EITHER a passport OR a birth certificate.  Passports will not be needed until June 2009.  See site below for CURRENT info.

  3. Yes! You now need a passport to travel anywhere in Mexico or Canada, for any amount of time.
