  1. you need a passport

  2. You will require a passport or a Government issued ID card.  Seeing as how it has been reported that the nasty people in Iraq are recruiting western looking people the US border service and Immigration will accept nothing short of positive identification so better get some before you visit Mexico.

  3. Anytime a US citizen leaves the country, a passport is required unless you are going to a US Territory (like Guam).  If you are going to Mexico (or Canada) you will need a passport to exit the US and that same passport to re-enter.

  4. nope as long as you have birth certificate and picture ID such as Drivers license you will be fine.

  5. I am going to mexico in may and I need one, but i am flying. If you are going by land you do not need a passport book but you will need a passport card. this is alot cheaper and doesn't take as much time to get back. you can go to www.travel.state.gov to read more

  6. Not yet... ID and birth certificate. The whole passport thing is being phased in and not currently required for land travel.

  7. When traveling across the Mexican border by land, all you need is government I.D. (i.e. driver's license) and proof of citizenship (birth certificate).

  8. Yes, you're going to need one.

It's better to get your passport now, even to get into Mexico. Having a passport when you don't need it is better than not having a passport when you DO need it.

  9. "tonalc" is absolutely right.  See site below.
