  3. It depends on your nationality if you need a passport or if an ID card will do

    Basically many of the EU countries have an official ID card system and can travel in the EU on this ID alone (e.g. here in the Netherlands that is the case), but in the UK there is no ID card system, therefore your only option is a passport.  A driving licence is not sufficient
