Do i need a passport to vaction in mexico?

im going to be vacationing in mexico at the end of this month. n i heard a law passed that u need a passport to go to mexico now is this true. if so when does it go into effect

As of June 2009 everyone will need a passport to enter and return by all points , sea air and land .

Yes as of a few months ago you will not be allowed back in without it.

If you fly yes.

If you take a car or boat you need a photo ID and a birth certificate.

You will need a US passport to enter back to your country if you are flying.

To enter Mexico, no problem, they will give you a tourist card  (like a visa) in order to be legal in Mexico.

No problem with Mexico.

Problem with United States.
