Do i need a permit/license to go fluke, sriped bass, any other similar fishing?

  1. Check with your local baitshop.


  2. You do not require a license to fish for strip bass or fluke. Check with your local bait store to verify size and quantity restriction. New York fluke is 20 1/2 inches and strip bass is 26 inches. Different states have different size and quantity limits.

  4. Licenses are not required to fish  salt water in NY

    There are size limits for fluke , striped bass, bluefish & others

    which may vary from place to place.

    There are also limits on the number of some fish that may be taken.

    Baitshops  will have the state regs .

    BTY, since limits have been in place there are more & bigger fish in the area.

    Have seen fisheries boats checking the catch on small boats esp the ones near shore .

    Keeping "shorts" or over the limit numbers will get you a fine.
