Do you have to have the box connected to a phone line, or is there another way, i have multiroom downstairs, just ordered a sky plus box so was going to have my old box put upstairs, but dont have a working phone line up there.

  1. Yes you do. To prove to Sky that you are the one using the box( getting the reduced rate for a second box ), as some people are getting the reduced rate and giving the box to someone else. So both boxes must be plugged into the same phone line.

There are a number of ways for an extension, get BT to do this Approx 120quid, the Sky engineer may do this if its not a long run, or go to Argos get a kit for about a tenner and do it yourself, this way you can run the wire the way you want to.

  2. Yes you do need a phone line! It will work for a while until Sky send their routine signals to the box and discover the phone line does not exist!

Why don't you buy a long phone extension and use cable clips and install it yourself, that's what I did!!

    Hope this helps.

  3. We have Sky+ multiroom. The engineer just ran a wire from the downstairs phone socket to the box upstairs. They didn't charge us for that. Makes interactive much easier and quicker.

  4. I tink u defn need a phone line...but being upstairs I dnt tink is a must.
