  1. some tv's have a amplified speaker output but most just have a line out that must be amplified to use with speakers. you could use a receiver or a set of speakers with a built in amp to do this (radioshack used to carry some speakers with amps in them but im not sure if they do now) or you can use my trick that i use to get sound : a set of computer speakers a female to female stereo miniplug coupler and whatever adapter cable needed to turn your tv line out into a stereo miniplug - works graet for me to get more volume out of my ps2


  2. yes you need an amplifier receiver. your tv wont have enough power to handle additional speakers. you can go to radio shack and pick up the rigt speaker wire jacks that goes from tv to your receiver. good luck, john from new york.
