  1. As you are a British citizen you may not need one if you are here for under 60 day's, maybe because America and Australia have the same agreement, and i think it has one with England as well.

    You will need to get with Australian Immigration. try www.immi.gov.au/immigration for more info


  2. yes you need a visa, your travel agent when you are booking your ticket should be able to organise it. iam a naturlised Australian who is british born,i used to have to get a rentry visa back in to Australia with my british passport every time i left Australia where i live, i always let my travel agent organise it. Now iam naturilsed aussie i have to use an Australian passport to come back in i can still use my british to leave the country
