Do i need a visa to enter Manila..i want to stay there and just extend my tourist visa?

The consulate in Melbourne says i need one. Cause i have a conviction from 2004, they won't give me the entry visa until they get the police check back. But my flight is booked and i have to go now

yeah you do. only people from southeast asia are free to get-in an out of the philippines without totally having a visa.

Why would the consulate lie to you? I would trust the consolates word on this over the word of random strangers on the internet.

you could have it re-booked. wait for your visa. but normally, foreigners going to the Philippines don't even need a visa.
