  1. Don't waste your time going to that dump. The beaches are filthy and people harass you constantly for money and to buy there c**p and they don't accept no for an answer.  And the prices of things suddenly go up once they know you are American.

The Republoc of Cyprus is way better. Plus people there know English.

  2. If Youre Living In London It Doesn't Matter......

If You Have An American Passport, You Need A Visa To Go ANYWHERE In Europe

  3. I just checked the provisions by the German ministry of foreign affairs for Germans to travel to North Cyprus. I think in general U.S. are treated by the Turkish government the same way as Germans are. To visit Cyprus for less than 90 days, your passport is sufficient, there is no visa requirement. You will need a visa to get into North Cyprus, that is issued at the boarder by Turkish authorities. There is no need to request it in advance at any embassy. There had been problems with the Cypriot government, when tourist had entered Cyprus through the northern part first and wanted to proceed to the south, because the Northern part is official not recognized, and with a Turkish stamp in their passport, entry to South Cyprus was denied. It is therefore adviced to enter Cyprus through a port or an airport under control of the Republic of Cyprus.

    Edit:

Just found a link of the US government, same procudures.

  4. I used to live in South Cyprus and go over with American friends.  You'll need a passport to cross the border.  On entering the north fill in a visa, which is available at the check point.  The visa is a photocopied peice of paper requesting name, nationality and passport ID.  They check this against your passport and stamp the visa (not the passport).  If you want to get back into the south then keep the paper visa as they will stamp it on the way out.  Simple huh?  Its very safe and very easy.  I used to go over and buy bread and some shopping then cross back into the south to my house.

  5. I live in North Cyprus and on entering the country at Ercan Airport you will be given a visa to fill out they only need your name, nationality and passport number. Hope you have a lovely time here it is a beautiful part of the island and at the moment temperature during the day is 37-47C so bring lots of sun creams.

it is not a problem to enter the south with a Turkish stamp in your passport as I have residency stamps in mine and frequently travel into the south. There is a lot of propaganda bandied about this island don't believe the half of it.
