  1. Short answer: probably not

    Slightly longer answer: It depends on how long you are going for - and also to other countries in europe (due to Schengen arrangements), whether you have any criminal convictions, whether you have an onward/return ticket etc.

    From the Italian Embassy Website:

    Holders of a valid New Zealand passport do not need VISA to enter Italy or any other Schengen countries for tourism (maximum stay of 90 days per half year).
