  1. Yes, that's exactly what you need- a wireless router.

Buy a wireless router (Linksys, D-Link, Netgear, Belkin are a few popular brands).  You can find a fairly inexpensive Wireless G router either at a local store (Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.) or online (buy.com, tigerdirect.com, frys.com, etc.).

Follow the instructions that come with the router, but basically you are going to simply connect your dsl or cable modem to the router's WAN/Internet port.  It's important to follow the instructions or cd setup because there are a few basic things you want to do in order to make your wireless router more secure.  This way your neighbors won't use your Internet connection.

If your laptop has a built-in wireless card then you should be good to go.  If not, you will want to buy a wireless adapter (either USB or PCMCIA card) so your laptop can connect wirelessly.

    Good Luck!

  2. Yes. You will need to get a wireless router.

You plug your modem into your router uplink. The router will have directions or you can contact the manufacturer for free support. Then your laptop can connect wirelessly and get on the internet without a cable. It's fairly easy. It might be confusing at first but after you do it one time, it is cake.
