  1. Some things to know http://spkrbox1.spaces.live.com

  2. you need a amp for a sub no matter what.

an amp takes in power from your car and uses it to power the sub safely and allow you to go deaf from bass

  3. Of course you need an amplifier to make the subs perform loudly. an amplifier just simply makes your music louder. or amplifys a small signal into a bigger one.

  4. YES- all subs need an amp because your radios internal amp is not powerful enough to push subs

if you hook up a sub to a radio without an amp -when the volume is turned up and the amp doesn't have enough power, the signal becomes distorted, or "clipped." This distorted signal can cause parts of the speaker to overheat, warp and melt. Not good!

when it comes to matching amps to subs here are the things that are needed to know

    how many subs

what are the subs impedance's (ohms)

what is the subs setup (DVC or SVC)

what is the subs wattage rating (RMS not peak/max)

an amp provides the necessary wattage to power your speakers

  5. ummm depends do you want to use the sub for music or just look at it the amp is what powers the sub kinda like how door speakers dont work off magic they work  off power from your cd player the amp sends power to the sub making sub make sound just like any old speaker box sense subs are so much bigger you need more juice thats where the amp comes in 1 sub or 10 you will need an amp

  6. yes u need an amp if u want 2 bump a sub

it powers da sub and makes da sub hit hard

if u want 2 subs get an amp dat has enough rms dat fits da subs rms
