if i were to purchase a single 10" or 12" sub is it nessasary to have an amplifier to power it. or can it just run off a direct hook-up to the battery? if that is possible, would it be benificial to get one of those battery juice recharges (i have no idea what their called) so the amp doesnt drain my battery power (i tihnk thats what it does atleast lol) any help or knowledge would be great for my, very low budget, project

  1. yes, you do need to purchase an amplifier. you may be able to power a small ten inch off your stereo power if its less then 100 watts(not the battery, dont know what you ment by direct hook up?) but it will sound very crapy. if you do get an amp, it wont drain your battery unless the car is off.

  2. yes you need a amp get a rockford fosgate well built long lasting

  3. You are going to defenitely need an amp. But in any case your not going to need an alternator or capacitor. You are only going to be using 1 10 or 1 12.

  4. ur gunna need an amp buy it ofline it will be way cheaper then best buy or sumtin like that an i think ur talkin about the alternator u dont need one for a single 10 or 12 ur stock one will be fine
