To breed bettas? When do i turn it on and what exactly does it do? Oh and when i get a heater can i just leave it iin the tank for a while then turn it off once it gets to the right temperature and then put plastic wrap over the tank to conserve the heat? Also, whats the perfect temperature to breed bettas? And is it true i can use a dried oak leaf in place of an almond leaf? How do i clean it? THANKS!

  1. RESEARCH! All those questions can be answered off google!

And under gravel filter may provide to much current for the fry, try a sponge filter. It is best to keep the heater running, that way there is a steady temp, the fry need a steady temp. 80F or 82F is a good temp to breed bettas. I just used floating fake plants, and big leaf that floats will work, I used a plastic plate!lol! You do not need to "clean it" But you do need to cycle the tank b4 the spawning b/c fry will die if there is any ammonia.. Water change it once a week after it is cycled. This is very hard, so if you are a beginner then do not try it, bettas can die during sspawning

  2. Its better to not have anything on the tank floor when breeding bettas?

  3. An UGF is left on all the time the same as an external filter.  The heater also needs to be on all the time to maintain the proper temperature.  You don't put plastic wrap over a tank because it would limit the oxygen in the tank.  Sounds like you need to do a lot of research on betta care before you consider breeding them.
