Do i need antenna if i bought a digital converter box?

I have this this tv i didnt use so now i bought a RCL digital converter box in Wall-Mart and the first step on the set up is -Connect your existing antenna cable to the ANTENNA IN jack of the Converter Box. But i dont have old analog antenna do i need to get it in order for the Converter Box to work?

  1. Yes you do.  The external convertor box is to provide digital tv to older analog televisions that are NOT connected to satellite or cable systems.

    For a portable or extra tv that relies on over-the-air signals, you'll need an inexpensive pair of rabbitear antennas, avaliable at any hardware, electronic, or variety store.


  2. Yes, you need to receive the Over The Air signal somehow.  An antenna is the way to do that.  

    You might want to visit http://www.antennaweb.org for suggestions on antenna types and where the transmitters are in your area.  Remember to get a VHF/UHF antenna.  Many Digital stations are UHF but not all!

  3. Yes, the commercially available converter boxes are only for people receiving over the air broadcasts through an antenna.  If you are paying for a cable or satellite service you will receive a converter from your provider for your analog sets.
