Do i need calculus for a PhD in statistics?

I really don't want to take calculus but do i have to for a PhD in statistics or can i take calculus for business or statistics based on calculus?

  1. Calculus and a little bit o' masochism.


  2. You will *definitely* need to take an entire Calculus sequence (at most schools: three semesters) in order to earn a Ph.D. in statistics. If you want to be well prepared, then you will probably also want to take at least one semester of analysis and at least one semester of an advanced course in probability.

    A Ph.D. in statistics does require some fairly advanced mathematics.
