Do i need car insurance while im not using the car?

Question

Im due to renew my car insurance. Ive 6 days after my motor insurance policy ends where i will not be using the car. Do i need to be insured for these 6 days despite not using or moving the car.?

You should keep comprehensive in case of vandalism or natural disaster.

Depends on local laws. When I lived in Marion County Florida (Ocala), you were required to have insurance and current plates on any vehicle on your property. This was an effort to prevent junk cars from being stored on property.

If the car is parked on private property, you do not legally need insurance, but if it is parked on the road, or on public property, then you do need a minimum of third party cover even if you are not using the car.

Well, if your car gets broken in to or stolen in those 6 days, you won't have any insurance coverage and will have to pay out of pocket for the damages.  It's really up to you if you want to take that chance.
