no. but in some states it is required to take drivers ed to get your actual license after you get your permit. in GA it is required.

Unless you want to wait until you're 18, yes. In most states to get your license at 16 you have to have driver's ed in school. You can't take driver's ed without a permit. At 18 you can just go take the test without having a permit.
