If your moped is considered a class A (above 30 mph), you must have a Class M license.  This is the same requirement for a motorcycle.

Your regular driver's license is a Class D.  You'll need to get a Class M permit and take another road test to have the Class M added to your Class D license.

If your moped is class B or C (below 30 mph), then your class D license will be enough.
