  1. HELLO

NO, YOU MAY ALSO RIDE THE BIKE TO THE MOT CENTRE, EVEN THE EVENING BEFORE AS LONG AS IT IS BOOKED IN FOR MOT, AND YOU GO BY DIRECT ROUTE.

SOME WILL ASK YOU TO LEAVE IT THE EVENING BEFORE SO THEY HAVE BIKES READY FIRST THING OR TO DROP IT OFF FIRST THING TO KEEP NUMBER OF BIKES DOWN. THEY WILL NORMALLY TELL YOU WHEN TO COLLECT OR RING? DEPENDS WHEN YOURS IS BEING  MOT'D. POSSIBLY END OF SAME DAY AS MOT.

WITH CARS, GARAGES CHARGE DIFFERENT PRICES.  CHEAPEST WILL ALL WAYS CHARGE IF RETEST IS REQUIRED,

MID-PRICED MAY GIVE YOU 1 WEEK TO GET THE WORK DONE THEN FREE RETEST.

TOP PRICE MAY GIVE YOU 2 WEEKS TO GET THE WORK DONE THEN FREE RETEST.

THEY WILL NOT REQUIRE TO SEE YOUR LICENCE

  2. If you take the bike to the mot station on a trailer (or push it with the engine off!, no.  If you ride it on the road then you are committing a serious offence riding uninsured.  You can only ride an unMOTed bike to a prebooked MOT.  They don't need to see your licence or insurance, but if you are stopped on the way there or back, it is probably 6 points and a fine.  If you only got your licence in the last 2 years, you will be banned and have to take a test from scratch again.

  3. yes if you are going to ride it to mot station but if mot has run out you should pre book the mot at nearest mot station not one miles and miles away and ride straight there not take a detour because if you get stopped they will want to know why you are not riding straight there

  4. no

  5. You don't need insurance to MOT your bike, just to use it on the road! The MOT station won't ask for your license, an MOT will cost about £30 and take about half an hour.

  6. You don't need insurance or a licence to MOT any vehicle, the only thing that you need to take to the MOT testing station is the vehicle itself, however, if you ride the bike to the MOT testing station then you will need insurance (and hold the appropriate licence) as you will be using the public highway. You would also need to have the MOT booked in advance (if the previous MOT has already expired). If you take your bike in the back of a van or on a trailer then obviously this does not apply. Technically you shouldn't even push your bike to the MOT testing station without insurance as it should be insured if it's on a public road (yes, even if you are not riding it).

It costs £27.15 to MOT a motorcycle (or £34.65 if it has a side car) but some places do it cheaper so it's worth shopping around. The fees stated are the MAXIMUM fees and they are not subject to VAT.

Generally the MOT takes around 30-45 minutes and you are entitled to watch if you want. If the MOT testing station asks you to drop of the bike the night before or leave it for a few hours I would seriously consider going elsewhere.

I got an MOT for my bike a couple of weeks ago and they did it for me on the spot - I didn't even have to book (my previous MOT was still valid so I didn't have to pre book to legally ride my bike on the road).

    Good Luck!
