Do i need my parents to be there during a contact lens perscription exam?

I am 16. i want to know if it is possible to get fitted for contacts without my parents being present for the exam. Is there just a form that i can bring to my dad to sign?

  1. no, your parent has to be there, as you are a minor


  2. I went to several eye exams by myself as a minor.  My parents just had to complete the paperwork for our insurance.  I was not fitted for contacts at that point, but I did have an eyeglasses prescription.  

    You should just ask whoever is doing the fitting if your parent has to be there or not.

  3. It depends on how payment is arranged.  If your parents have already provided the doctor with insurance information and have agreed to pay for any uninsured fees for contacts then no.   Ask your parents how their insurance works.
