  1. the clubs are not worth that much i mean you might get like $75 dollars for all of them and if you want the 5 missing clubs you can go to ebay and find them and if i was you i would probably get me some hybrids and a newer driver and if you are just starting out i would probably start out with a cheap ball then when you get better move on to a titlest pro v or callaway hx   and if you have the money i would go ahead and buy a new set of clubs

  2. Yeah, you need new clubs, because there is no reason to buy a bunch of single clubs. Go to a golf store and buy a full set, with woods and irons, then buy a wedge or two, and you already have a putter.

You should play regular top flite balls, or the lower end titleist, callaway, or nike balls. There is no sense buying the top of the line ones, as they are designed specifically for pros, but people do not know that and buy them anyways,

DO NOT BUY CLUBS ON EBAY.

It is much better to go to a store and test different ones to see which are comfortable and fit your game. On Ebay, you have no idea if you will like the clubs.

  3. If money isn't an issue then you should definitely get new clubs. I would definitely go and get fitted for some clubs. Any good pro shop will have you hit all different kinds of clubs and do measurements and get the club that will work best for you. Also they will normally do this for free if you are going to buy your clubs there. You will be amazed how much of a difference custom fitted clubs will make. Also the new technology does make a difference especially for amateurs, clubs today are much more "forgiving". As far as hybrids go, go and try some long irons and then hybrids see which you like better, one isn't better than the other it is more personal preference.

  4. You don't really need a 5 wood unless you can't hit the irons.  The Big Berthas and X-12s are fine, and the set probably cost over a grand when it was new.

It's not the fishing pole it's the fisherman.

  5. try the Callaway X20's and FX7 Driver

  6. Honestly, nobody can give you a great answer without more info on your swing.  To take a good guess, I would say that since you are 55 and have not played seriously for over 30 years, you are probably at least a mid-handicapper and have a slower swing speed than when you were young.  My guess would be that you would benefit from the newer, light-weight hybrids and more flexible shafts.  BUT, do yourself a favor, and don't take advice over the Internet - go to a golf store with a simulator or a good pro and get advice for your particular swing style and abilities.
