Do i need this schooling to become a pharmacy tech?

i been taking classes online at penn foster to become a pharm tech but now im hearing that you dont even need the school is this true if so all this hard work study was just a waste ???

  1. Currently, not a single state in the Union requires any formal education to be a pharm tech.  Taking classes at any unaccredited school is a waste in general.  To be a Tech in my state, you just need to be 16.  You will not get paid more or find it easier to find a Tech job with a tech degree.  If more education is required the pharmacy accreditation council will get involved and start accrediting programs.


  2. No, it's not a waste. I don't know what your state requirements are, so I don't know if you have to take it or not, but I do know if you take it you have a leg up on the rest of the population that wants the job. Hang in there and finish, you'll be glad you did.
