  1. What on this earth are you talking about?

  2. i've actually never done a bmw 3 series before but i have baked about a dozen headlights to get the lens off.  i have opened up an x5 before and you did have to bake those.  for the people that don't understand, on a lot of headlights you have to bake them in an oven to remove the lens cover.  you bake them to get the glue to soften up.  it really isn't baking though.  you heat up the oven to 350 then turn it off.  then put the headlight in (without any internals or s***w) for about 15 min.  after that you wear some gloves and slowly pry it open with a flathead screwdriver.  i recommend that you try with duplicate set of headlights so you don't damage the original m3 ones.  and if they come out good then you can just swap them out.  good luck with your project and remember to take your time since you can crack and damage the lens pretty easily when its hot.

  3. are you baked right now? what are you asking? we do not under stand your question. i am not sure why you want to open headlamps up.

  4. In a nutshell, no, but it depends on the adhesive used to hold the lens onto the housing.

I've dissected the taillights on my 1995 Mirage using a butter knife, flathead screwdriver and hairdryer. You need to set the hairdryer on its hottest setting and go from the back of the housing, not the lens side. Heat one spot, such as a corner for a good 5 minutes, then work the butter knife in by prying GENTLY. Keep the heat on that spot and slowly work it sideways a little, prying still, just enough to get the screwdriver in beside it.

Slowly work your way around the housing, butter knife first, then screwdriver behind it to hold the pieces apart, gently prying with them. Go slow and take your time, or you will crack the lens..

the oven method does work, but the hairdryer methos lets you 'feel' how things come apart, which makes it easier to put them back together. Re-assembly is straightforward to. Set the lens back in its groove (on a flat soft surface like a towel) and heat it up. To seat the lens, gently press down on the housing, working your way around the perimeter.

Just go slow and you should be fine.
