Do i need to be flexible??

i want to try basic figure skating and im not so flexible..... do i need to be flexible??? if yes, wat should i do to be flexible

  1. Yes you do. When I started figure skating i didnt think you needed to be to flexible even for basics. But soon i learned that you need to be.

    you need to stretch 2-5 time a day.


  2. I imagine it would help. If you stretch regularly im sure you can become more flexible.

  3. You shouldn't figure skate on the Curling rink... The ice is a bit bumpy, and softer...

Hmm....I guess it depends on what elements you are working on...If you're working on spirals, and flexibility moves, then yes.  If you are working on jumps/spins, it is NOT necessary, but it DOES help a ton!  To help yourself become more flexible, I would suggest touching your toes, practicing your spiral off ice, and doing a sit-and-reach.  Also,  a straddle split works really well.  I hope that this helps!
