Question:

Do i need to buy blu ray DVDs when i have a 1080p upscaler which converts standard DVDs to 1080p quality?

Also i do have a ps3 which you can use blu ray, but is knackered at the moment so will be sending back to supplier or getting replaced.

  1. If you want to spend 30 dollars per movie get one. I have an upconvert player also. I'm waiting for price and the bugs to get worked out of new sound format. Do you need one that bad or not is the question. I need a beer though.


  2. Yes!

    Upscalers do not give you the full detail that was originally recorded and that is available on BR disks. You'll imeediately notice the difference, especially in the colour range and definition.

    Also, BR disks are not that much more than new DVDs now; so it makes sense to start the HD library today...

  3. yes blu-ray disks are different than DVD's.  Even with up scaling.

  4. The blu ray discs have much more information on them than on a DVD. I owned a PS3 when it came out and had a crt television and wondered what all the fuss was about but recently got an LCD TV and was blown away by the difference between blu ray and DVD.
