  1. These are the options:
    1. Do it like Briggs Stratton says, but it takes time to remove stuff.
    2. Some drill out rivets and replace with screws.
    3. THE EASIEST WAY is as Guest6310 says but here is the trick:
    a. Do this with sunlight so it is easy to see things.
    b. Get the copper telephone wire which typically has about 4 wires in it and use only one wire, let's say blue. You need about1 foot length.
    c. Thread the tip of the copper wire about 1/2 " from the end of the new rope and bend the copper wire like a hook.
    d. Tighten the spring (reach your hand underneath) until it stops. Use your left hand to hold the spring.
    e. Thread the thin copper wire into the spring wheel and pull through the rope.
    f. You may need another assistant to hold the wheel while you make a knot at the end of the rope. Heat the end of the the rope with a match for 3-4 seconds to prevent fraying.
    g. Now pull the rope until the knot stops at the wheel.
    h. Now work on the handle part, same idea, tie a knot. Heat the end of the the rope with a match for 3-4 seconds to prevent fraying.
    i. The pull handle should rest at the handle bar at the hook as from factory.

    Hope this helps.
