  1. yes definatly, you need to wax your board about once a month because the wax gets really dried out. Boards are waxed in the factory but who knows how long they've been sitting on the shelf waiting to be bought. but you can wax it yourself for much cheaper all you need is an iron, some wax from a snowboard shop, and something to scrape off the excess wax. as for the edges, if you're doing rails and boxes it would be a better idea to grind them down because you might catch an edge. if not then you dont need to worry about them for at least a year.

  2. No, most large factory snowboards are pre-waxed and ready for the slopes. But after a while you might want to get it waxed, and maybe after a year or so u should get it sharpened

  3. I always recommend cleaning the base with a citrus base cleaner and then hotwaxing.  You don't really have to do it right away, but it is better if you do.  Wax helps protect your board and makes it run better in the snow.  Don't worry about sharpening right away unless you are a racer or heading out to icy hills.

  4. yes u shoud probably wax it especially if u want some speed

  5. h**l yeah dude..waxing your first snowboard is the way to go. It will definatly be a better ride on the slopes. lol dont sharpen it right away...wait until it needs it. Good Luck Friday! Have Fun!!!!

  6. yes

  7. See my answer under "Just got a new snowboard..what do i need to do to get it ready?" thread...

but the short answer is YES for waxing - it's a MUST, no for sharpening.
