Yes Jo...30yrs of Reaganomics have assured the continuing decline in blue collar jobs and so there is more competition for the remaining "good" jobs like public safety! So college defineatly puts you ahead the schmuk who didnt go to college!!

I think that a degree in Criminal Justice would "open the door" a little more quickly! Police departments want guys and gals who can not only do the "rough and tough" police street work but THINK too!

Most police depts are at least requiring an associates degree. If you dont want to go to college you'll need military experience.
