Do i need to have 3G on my LG shine if all I do is make local phone calls??

Since 3G uses more power, is it necessary for me to have it on? What exactly does 3G mean on a cell phone?

If you use internet on your mobile, you are better off with 3G. 3G will not affect your calling in any way....

you dont really need 3g to do anything. it's not necessary. 3g just makes it faster. if it doesnt have 3g your fine. it doesnt make a differance. as long as you have bars of some sort. :)
