  1. Not as long as you fly under VFR conditions.

  2. You don't need an instrument rating to fly any airplane unless you fly it under IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) or  IMC (Instrument Meteorological Conditions) and if you are in IMC you should be IFR!

  3. when you get a private license

you will get a basic understanding of instruments

    and fly under the hood

but you will not need an instrument rating

  4. You don't need an instrument rating unelss you want to do instrument flying.  Otherwise you will just be VFR(visual flight rules)

  5. Tell you what. Next time its cloudy, overcast 400ft and tops are at FL350, go out and fly and then come back and tell me if you need an instrument license. Ill wait right here.

  6. As long as you fly in VFR conditions, a Private Pilot's license is sufficient.

  7. If you have at least a private rating and it's a VFR day you are good to go.  Actually if you have your solo endorsement and it is a VFR day you are good to go.

  8. No, not if your getting your private certificate, your able to fly VFR and not IFR. But if you plan getting your CFI and ATP rating, then you must get your instrument rating.

  9. No.

    "Instrument rating."
