What are the documents i need to carry for travel in domestic flight in India. Also is it mandatory to have a passport to have a passport for travel in domestic flights

  2. It is not at all mandatory to carry passport while travelling within India.  However, the airlines at times will ask for your photo identity for which Driver's licence, or any photo identity card will be sufficient.

    You need to show an identity card which has a photo affixed ( Like PAN,Passport,Voter ID card, Photo credit/debit card) . If you've bought the ticket using a credit card  and it's in your name you need to show the card to them , if you bought the ticket using some one else's card , you need to show the photocopy of the card attested by the owner ..

    the domestic carriers will ask to show something to prove your identity.

    so if you keep your passport with you then that's a good document to show your identity.

    you can also keep license or electrol card with you.
