  1. Hi ,

no thermals needed, but a good scarf, hats and gloves are recommended, I'm a Dubliner so I know. A good warm fleece or heavy jacket will be good for winter too. Wind chill makes dublin seem colder than it is. A small umbrella would be an investment but we do have strong winds - not that it rains as much as you would think.

AS for a SIM you can pick a ready to go one up and have it active straight away for as little as 10 euro (if u dont want a bill phone).

Internet will depend on what connection type you will have in your accomodation. but there are some deals for most ervices, most are about same price level , but you can shop around.

As for accomodation , try www.daft.ie or local papers like the herald or independant when you get here.

If you need anymore advice I'll be glad to give you some pointers

  2. for accommodation check out www.daft.ie .

You can buy as pre-paid SIM card as soon as you arrive and put it in your own phone as long as you have a phone that works here, and is not locked to another network.

Or you can but a new phone and pre-pay SIM for about €60+.

Thermals might be a bit extreme, It does get cold but generally not that bad. I know ur coming from warm country, but probably regular layers would do. It rains quite a lot so water proof gear would be sensible.

Dublin is quite small compared to cities in other countries so dont worry, you'll be fine. Its easy to get around and lots of people to meet.

  3. I'm sure you can find a web site that will give you information on accomadation but I'm certain you won't need thermal wear in October, I never wore it when I lived there and I was never someone who suffered from heat

  4. It may be a bit cold for you. right now it's about 30 degrees Celsius but in winter it can get to about 0 degrees during the day. There is broadband in Dublin and everyone has a mobile. You can buy a Sim card for a prepay phone a you're set up. you should rent an apartment with other people

  5. Coming from Singapore you need thermals. October day temperatures in Dublin are about 12C to 15C, nightime C to 11C. You won't find the locals wearing them. They are much too hardy. Mobile is cheap and you can be up and running in 24hrs or 10 minutes if you have a mobile which is clean. Of all the countries you could pick Ireland is by far the best. But after Singapore you will find the Irish very laid back. There is no word in the Irish language to convey anything like the urgency of "Manyana"! Ireland leads the world in internet connections per capita and its phone system is second only to Japan
