Do i need to pay a phone bill that hasn't been sent to me and the phone company won't send another copy.

The company said the account was at the debt collectors, but the debt collectors don't have it.

The phone company also wanted me to pay it by credit card, but i refused because i'm unsure if the entire bill is legitimate. It was very high for local calls only. Should i just wait and see what happens or should i chase it up?

  1. Go to the phone company office in person.

  2. The answer to the question is straight forward. Though you do need to pay the money, do not until they send you an bill. Many phone companies will argue that they do not want to send you a bill as to send you one is too expensive. If this is the case, ask them to send you your bill electronically to an email address. If they still still say no, something dodgy is going on.

Keep in  contact with the alledged debt collecters, and ask then to ring you if they recieve any cases with your name listed. If they do recieve a case from you from the phone company, then request from them the phone bill, they will send it to you without a doubt then.

After you recieve the phone bill, and you see that they charged you late fees, ring up the company and state that you refuse to pay the late fees, and only will pay the original bill. In your circumstance they will give you exemption generally as it is generally not worth it for them to chase late fees, particularly in your case as in court they would loose.

Overall dont pay without being issued a bill, as after all it could be just a scammer trying to con you of your credit card number.

    hope that helps
