Do i need to play Fable 1?

I've seen the teasers and interviews for Fable II and i think it is going to kick *** but i haven't played Fable I and i don't like old games that don't have up to date engines... like i would have like Oblivion when i came out but since i tried it like a month ago i don't like it... its like how i don't like street fighter 2 cuz its old... basically... my question is whether or not I'm gonna need to know the story of the first Fable or not... because i want to enjoy Fable II but I would like to not play the first unless its necessary

PS: Yea i know my logic on gaming sucks sry to all the hardcore people.

No it wouldn't matter because Fable 2 is a completely different story. It has no connection to Fable 1

yes you need 2 cuz u have flash backs to the old fable and it helps alot to know about cuz if u get it it ill be all confusing

They will never relate Fable 2's story to Fable 1 because Fable 2 started 500 years after Fable 1. However, there are easter eggs from Fable 1 on Fable 2 (characters and landmarks) and sometimes dancers act out stories from Fable 1.
