  1. nobody else does

  2. if in dought tell them, if it does not matter they will tell you but make sure you ask the person on the phone to send a letter to you confirming this as they may in future come back to you

  3. Yes.

  4. I would tell them. If they don't need to know then they will tell you that. But because its cash in hand, they will want some verification from your employer.

  5. yes you do. they deduct it from benefit money.

  6. Best to own up now.  Go onto Customs and Revenues website for more info.  Can't be off the books even if you are paid in cash as they are telling the Taxman.

    Be safe.

  7. You need to declare this money. Most importantly it should be declared to the local council to recalculate your housing and council tax benefit. The wage will deducted pound from pound for your current benefit award

Tax Credits are based on your previous years earnings, so unless the change is more than 25,000 it won't affect your current Tax Credit payment, it will affect next years, . However if you are doing 14 hours, this would mean you and your partner are doing 30 combined and you may qualify for extra tax credits this year.I would advise you give them a call and tell them as well

if your employer has submitted Inland Revenue forms then the job is being declared by your employer, so you should declare it as soon as possiable to keep yourself right and avoid any potential over payment.

  8. Yes, you have to tell tax credits, and the housing/council tax benefit people. Just beware cos most cash in hand jobs are dodgy. Noone should be employing people without declaring it in their tax returns and so on. On your wage you probably wont be paying tax, but just in case you should say you want a payslip. Youll need one for tax creds and benefits anyway

  9. Only if you wanna be a goody two-shoes. Why bother telling? You'll definitely mess up your benefit to some degree and if/when you get found out (probably never) just claim ignorance. It worked for me! I haven't had to pay back a penny either. Result!

  10. You must tell every department who contributes to your income....it will affect your housing benefit for def.

At least if you tell them all and they later say you have been overpaid you can argue they were informed....keep copies of letters or/and note the person who you inform

  11. If it's cash in hand why are you filling in an inland revenue form.Smells dodgy.Tell them to keep yourself in the clear.Put your area name in search(town etc).gov.benefits.

comYou will then be able to check.

  12. Hi I work for benefits, when you are claiming benefit you should declare all income unless you are getting either income support or job seekers allowance, then you would need to tell DWP.  You must declare all of your income, otherwise you could be investigated for benefit fraud
