  1. its the opposite seasson there.

  2. Boots, thermal underwear, fleeces, warm winter coat etc. You'll need them all.

I live near Osaka and winter is cold. No central heating neither.

  3. Yes.

    The longer the better.

    Insulated.

    Thermal socks.

    You can buy some there.....

  4. it helps to wear warm socks since many homes don't have central heating -- i would also recommend buying leg warmers (i stocked up at a Japanese dollar store) and wearing them under your pants. Is this your first time traveling to Japan??

  5. No you don't, unless you're going northern Japan like Hokkaido.  People might wear boots since they look fashionable, but not because it's warm in Tokyo or Osaka.

  6. Maybe not absolutely necessary, but a good idea. I never visited Osaka but I lived through two winters in Tokyo and I sometimes wished I was wearing boots to keep my feet warm. However, a good pair of thermal socks usually is sufficient if you are simply walking on city streets. But when it rains it's nice to have the boots. Plus I'm guessing from your avatar name that you are female, and thus wearing boots will make you very much in style.
