NO  you can  use  personl checks  and  money  orders..  But  these  can  create  problems both ways..  What  if  you  receive  a fake  check?  What  if  your  money order  is  not  received  by  the  seller?  "  even  if  theyre  lying).

That  way  youll be  out of  your  cash.

  At least with  paypal  you  have  a  receipt  of  everything  including  shipping labels  and  postage.

Strictly speaking, no, but lots of sellers only use Paypal, and most prefer it so you'll have less chance of getting what you want if you don't use Paypal.  But some people make a point of NOT using Paypal.  There's a section of the public who prefer cheques and postal orders, you just have to study carefully the payment requirements.  If you don't have Paypal and you've won an item, you'll get a bad feedback if you don't go through with it.

If some sellers only offer Paypal then yes you can not pay by any other mode but generally sellers provide many options.
