for the past few months i left the country to visit my parents and forgot to keep track of my bank account. My gym membership has been getting charged to my debit card and so i got insufficient fund charges of $40 charged to me which in total came up to $120 over the summer in these charges alone and it said "item returned insufficient fund" for my gym membership. So does this mean i owe the bank the the insufficient fund and then i have to go to the gym and pay them another $120 (the insufficient fund charge and gym membership are the same price)

  1. unless you get a letter from the bank saying that you had insuffient funds in your account while the transfer was made and it said that the items have been paid then you would just owe the bank.

  2. yep, you are going to have to pay the bank the $40 for insufficient funds and then the gym for their fees since they were returned.  Use this as a learning experience to think ahead next time and be more responsible.

  3. Yes you owe the gym the $120, plus the bank the NSF fees.

  4. Yes, you owe both.
